In Capital Health (Halifax, NS), a survey done in March 2004 found:
About 26% of responding physicians overall are dissatisfied with working hours.
25% of respondents were dissatisfied with their personal health and stress
levels
32% of female respondents were dissatisfied in this area
30% of respondents were dissatisfied with their work and family life.
About 65% supported the idea of creating healthy workplace programs.
In Canada, recent surveys of physicians show:
70% of those aged 45-54 said their workload is "heavier than they would like"
55% say their family and personal life suffers
57% of physicians who take on-call report that it is stressful or highly
stressful
