Your application timeline can start years before you are actually accepted into medical school. The application looks at everything you have done after age 16, so high school is a great time to start developing yourself and finding your interests. Doing well in school during this time is also essential to allow you to enrol in the appropriate university courses. In university, you can start applying to medical school as early as the beginning of your 3rd year. Many people also apply at the beginning of their 4th year, or during graduate school. After being accepted into medical school, your undergraduate medical education lasts 3-4 years. This is followed by Residency which lasts 2-6 years.
